Ten years ago I asked a question in the studio about what a belt becomes when you take everything else away, and that question turned into a camera, a room, and a moment where I stood in front of the lens topless wearing nothing but my belt. One product, one idea, one statement that defined what I believed then and still believe now, that a belt can carry more meaning than people expect it to.
It was raw, honest, and uncomfortable in the right way, a reminder that CM® started from a real place with one designer, one product, and one obsession. Next year I step into my twentieth year of making belts, twenty years of refining the system and twenty years of asking what comes next.
So I am opening the question again in the studio, not to recreate the past but to push the idea forward. I am not going to repeat what I did ten years ago, but I will do something raw to show what the CM® system looks like in year twenty and to show the truth of the brand again. Thanks to British GQ for supporting this a decade ago. It feels like yesterday.
